This power supply was known working. Picked up a 8700k, extreme4 z370, 16 gb cosair lpx ram, threw everything in an cosair 750d.

When I plugged the powersupply in the leds on the motherboard turn on, then my usb 3.0 hard drive turns on. This only happens with intial power. After everything boots and shuts down, it is normal. Turning off the leds in bios also makes them come on but then turn off, while the usb 3.0 drive continues to spin until I either turn the computer on then off, or flip the power supply off.

Also, the red led doesn't indicate power to the motherboard until after I turn it on and turn it off. The red led is all the is light up when off after that.

Solution
Some motherboard supply constant power to some components, even when shut down. For example, my graphics card light stays on until i've pulled the plug on the system. It's nothing to worry about although i'm sure it's annoying!

p.s. In future may I recommend I more gentle touch to PC building. Throwing PC components is not advisable, especially in such a beautiful case as the 750D. Next time, a toss would be better.
