Hello everyone Im new to the forum and im building my first computer and recently on Newegg the recommended power supply went from a 600w to a 873w and I know this cant be right but I checked Asus's recommended psu and they said 600w minimum. So my question is who do I trust?

My setup
Cpu = Amd Fx 6300
Regular motherboard
8gb of Ram x2 4gb
Radeon r9 270x
Dvd Rom
1 7200rpm HDD
And a case with 2 1120mm fans and that's it. Thanks

600w is about right. So yes, 873w is not right at all, unless you are getting two 270x. So i'd recommend you to get a quailty PSU, either Antec, Corsair, XFX 600w PSU. Or, 650w. I personally got myself a 650w because of future upgrades and the headroom for overclocking. So it's up to you to decide what you want.

A good 80 + certified 550 W should do the job.
But it's always good to have a little more for future upgrades.
So I recommend a 600/650 W.
If you do not intend to upgrade at all, a 550 W is enough.

But remember always get one which is at least 80 + certified. Anything from Seasonic, Corsair, XFX, Antec shall do.

Thank you everyone for clarifying yeah I always go with a bronze certified usually corsair or seasonic. Thanks again everyone I don't know what Neweggs psu calculator is doing. Maybe we should spread the word to stop confusion.
