Hello, My fathers Gaming PC recently went Kaboom so we went online and got him a PC that we could just slap a GPU in and call it a Day since he doesn't play any Demanding games. I found him a Optiplex 7040 mid tower a few years back that has a i5 6600, 16 gigs of ram with a 240 watt PSU. We put a Asus GT 1030 inside it and its been doing the job decently well. But my dad wants to play a game called Anno 1800 and the GT 1030 just isnt Entirely up to the job. So i wanted to upgrade the GPU, but i know the PSU is a major limiting factor. So i would wondering if anybody knew of a Powersupply that i could replace the 240 watt one with.....Thanks! Im not looking for anything crazy, i just want to get like a GTX 1050 or a GTX 1650.

Here's the estimated wattage for both cards:
GTX 1050: 75w (for a TI series card)
GTX 1650: 100w (for a SUPER series card)

Since everything else is base, you could go with a 500w-600w PSU and it work wonders. Be sure that it is GOLD certified and do modular connections if possible as it will save you time and headaches when installing.

Not! In an Optiplex 7040 MT it's 12v only and the PSU has proprietairy demensions. You can't replace it for any random 500-600w ATX PSU.
Yes, I know this. I was merely stating it to give him an idea.

I know you said mid tower but can you be more specific by letting us know which of these is the correct chassis type. Like --SID-- mentioned, if it's a micro chassis you will be limited in terms of replacement options.

Is it the SFF (Small Form Factor), Mini-Tower, or the Micro?
