Power supply- using 2 different cords for a two 8-pins graphics card.

Hi guys (again),

I'm back with another riveting question for ya guys....




I have a EVGA superNOVA 650W G2-

It came with two VGA cords that have a 6+2 pin on the end.


The graphics card I want is the EVGA GTX1070 FTW, Which requires two 8-pin connectors.


Can I use the TWO VGA connectors the PSU came with (6+2 pin) to power my EVGA GTX1070 FTW, which requires two 8 pin connectors? Or do I have to use only ONE cord from my PSU with two 8 pins on the end? If so, is there an adapter that goes from 6 pin to two eight pins??

Yes you would use two 6+2 pin pcie connetors, they should be marked PCIE on the connector, and they can be on the same cable that's fine. Don't use any adapters.

Two of these need to be plugged into the gpu, with the +2pin attached, that makes an 8pin connector.

No need for an adapter, use the two separate cords.
