...power supply?

ok ive ordered a few things people have suggested in my last thread titled ...new machine, but i forgot to ask about the power supply... so what do you suggest... this is what im ordering btw (thanks shadowduck)

Doesn't the P180 come with a PSU? i thought it did...

2 video cards is up to you but then you have to ensure that your MB supports crossfire and I'm not sure whether they still require a crossfire master card, which are more expensive than the standard one. The performance gain is around 25-30%, so if you think that that is worth the cost of another vid card and a crossfire compliant MB then it's your choice.

No P180 has no PSU. I would recommend the Antec Truepower II 550W for your PSU.

Look at the Power supplies forum.
They have a PSU calculator links in the sticky.

Of course if you are thinking of expanding add a bit extra.

Also don't choose cheap PSUs, you will regred it.

Note: Most good PSUs will have a 20% safety margin so a 400W good PSU may have a max of around 480W. Normally the specs for a PSU will state this.

That's a premium rig you have spec'ed there. Personally, I'd go overkill on the PSU like the mushkin or the OCZ Gamextreme 600 (700 if you do XFire). Regarding dual video cards - I think you'd want to step up to the DFI3200 mobo if you're doing XFire. But according to the many reports published, the value only comes in on 1600x1200 and larger monitors and then only on the more graphics intensive games. You might get more bang per buck by going more towards ultra-premium RAM and/or high performance cooling.
