I recently bought a new power supply to help with my new graphics card (geforce 970 superclocked). The supply I bought was a Cooler Master V750 - Compact 750W 80 PLUS Gold Modular PSU and I literally just installed it today, I played about an hour and a half of Dragon Age Inquisition and my computer screen turned black and rebooted itself. This was the same problem I had with the last power supply and I thought it was because my old power supply was failing or had too little wattage (620w). After my computer restarted I checked the event logs again and it was the same problem, it said error 41 kernel power. I'm suspecting its because my graphics card is automatically overclocked and its boosted clock speed is 1317 mhz.

My specs are: Intel i7 3770 quad core @ 3.4ghz
evga geforce 970 superclocked ACX 2.0
Gigabyte B75M-D3H mATX LGA1155 B75 DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI HDMI CrossFireX SATA3 USB3.0
Cooler Master V750 - Compact 750W
Corsair H60 liquid cooler

Solution
isn't error 41 just because it shutdown unexpectedly? That isn't going to tell you anything.

You need to turn bluescreen back on (this differs depending on OS) so you can get an actual error code
I know its not my temps, I have been monitoring them as well. They were the first thing I assumed that might have been wrong. I got a liquid cooler specifically to cool my CPU and temps are around 50-60 while gaming and for my GPU the temps are around 60-75 while gaming

This is the exact description: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

The source also says Kernel-Power so im assuming it's a power problem. Not sure if I have to lower my graphic card's clock speed because its factory autoclocked.

As I said, that error is just a general 'unexpected restart' error and won't tell you anything.

thanks, next time I get an error and my pc auto restarts again Ill see what the details are. I currently have lowered my clock speed on my graphics card, it seems to have improved, no crashes so far playing Dragon Age. This problem only occurs when I play graphic demanding games, my computer has never rebooted while playing a bit older games such as league of legends or counter strike. It's only been Dragon Age Inquisition and Shadow of Mordor.

If lowering your GPU clock below what it shipped with solves the issue then I suggest you contact your gtx 970 supplier for a replacement :)

The factory settings are 1157 default and 1317 turbo. The reason why its so high is because its superclocked. Its a EVGA geforce 970 superclocked acx 2.0 and I think 1317 mhz is drawing too much power, the card is automatically superclocked at factory settings. I dont believe theres anything wrong with it, 1317 mhz was just drawing too much power I think.

The superclocked 970 should not draw over 250W in any given case. Your psu sould be able to supply that amount of power easily unless you have a 10HDD setup.

I don't think this a PSU problem, and as LucoTF said code 41 is a useless error that gives no info don't even bother :)

Try installing bluescreenview, it will give you the whole history of any blue screen that your PC encountered, the driver that possibly caused the blue screen will also be mentioned. It might be a graphics card issue or just your Windows has some corrupt files, my PC had been restarting at least twice every week, i tried a bunch of solution including, reinstalling my graphics card, updating drivers, installing Microsoft hotfixes, but nothing helped, then i ran Windows Update again and it gave out Service Pack 1 for Win 7 64-bit, after installing Service Pack 1 i didn't encounter any unexpected restarts or stuff. Try reinstalling your windows.

Thanks for all the help guys, I have downloaded MSI afterburner and limited my clock speed but I haven't tried a power limit increase/decrease but when I first ran the program the default power limit was 100% and the temp limit was 79C. Is that good or bad? I also have been using GPU-Z and it says the power consumption is around 70-77% under load. I have windows update set to automatically so I have installed all the latest window's updates.
