Yes, a power surge can damage a power supply. Is the power supply plugged into a surge protector?

Also, a power surge would most likely cause damage to the motherboard, HDD, and any other equipment plugged into the power supply.
Basically, either the USB ports you are using are bad or the keyboard/mouse are bad. I would try the following steps to try to figure out what is causing your issue:
1) Try different USB ports. For example, try the ones on the front if you are using the ones on the back.
2) Purchase a PCI usb expansion card and try that.
3) Your keyboard or mouse could be damaged. Try a different keyboard/mouse combo to try to tease out which one is bad.

thanks lich for quick reply :3 i connected my wireless mice instead of deathadder and no errors so far ill try your steps and post the results thanks again

I'm glad that it's working. If you have another computer, try the Deathadder on that. Generally, with miss-behaving hardware it's best to figure out what's miss-behaving then try to fix it. The Deathadder might be under warranty so I would also check that if it acts up on another computer.
