Power Surge Problem

So basically the situation is that initially everything worked no problem, however, playing one specific map on WAW (Malibu Drive) lead to me being notified with Asus anti-surge protection which switched my computer off, and upon reserach I found that Asus has an unreliable anti-surge protector, therefore I had switched it off, only to encounter the same situation, but with no notification, it rather just switched off, and so I thought it may have been an issue with the PSU, of which I purchased a new one with more wattage, which had no impact on the recurring issue, and to be fair I have been overclocking, but this is not the issue as it happened before I had done so, and to stay on the safe side I have underclocked my CPU to stock settings.

Any suggestions are appreciated, many thanks. :]

Well i got the time era right. Basically, Many cheaper Asus boards of that time especially the sandy/ivy bridge boards broke down this way (the anti surge message). If you endured the casual shutdowns long enough the board would randomly start losing connection to usb ports, slow down your internet, and all kind of weird stuff would start to happen with your os along with the shutdowns. I myself was victim of this with my 2 z77 Asus boards which both broke down less than year after purchase.

Based on this i'm gonna say your mobo needs to be replaced.

Motherboard: m5a78l-m/usb3
CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz Turbo 4.2 GHz
RAM: 1X8 GB Corsair Vengence Pro Series 1866 MHz
PSU: EVGA 80+ 600W (This is the replacement for a EVGA 80+ 500W, as I thought the PSU was the issue)
CPU Fan: Corsair Hyper 212 Evo
HDD: 1TB WD Blue

Thanks

Thanks, considering the CPU which is a fx-8350 with an LGA of Am3+, would you recommend any decent mobos which aren't too expensive?

MSI 970 gaming.
Also, AM3 uses PGA not LGA 😉
