Question Power Switch For Acer Aspire XC 230

Hey everyone! I just needed a bit of help with my power on/off switch.. I broke the original one on my acer Aspire XC-230 desktop.. I can't for the life of me find an original replacement and I have searched google and ebay for hours! I want to replace it and was wondering if this would work for my pc? Power Switch Amazon

I'm not sure how to upload pics on here... So can't show you what my original one looks like although it is similar to this Similar old looking wire and switch on ebay but mine doesn't have that those two long red and white wires...

The wires that go to the switch on my old broken switch are 4 (grey, orange, white, green) -- the ones at the other end of that cable that goes onto the mobo, there are 5 wires (grey, orange, white, green and a black one), they all go into a little plastic black rectangular piece and clips onto the pins on my mobo..

I cut the switch off of the one end and if I touch the white and orange end of the wires together for a second I can start my computer and it works fine. Would feel better with a switch rather than two wires sticking out of the top of my pc..

Any help would be great... Thanks

Original switch you can get only from Acer but that "Power switch"/ Start button is just a simple momentary, normally open 2 pole switch, something like old type door bell

Ok thanks...
I know the orange and white wires are the power (to turn it on).. Do you know what the green and grey ones would be for? I'm assuming one of them is for the led or would both of them be for the led an LED+ and an LED-? Was also wondering what the black wire is for that is on the other end of the wires? There are 4 wires on the end that go onto the switch and 5 wires are on the other end that join into the black thing that goes onto the motherboard..

The motherboard doesn't have marking on it to say what pins are what and I can't find it in the manual...

Sorry, I don't know particular PC, can tel only about industry standards.
Yes, those green and gray wires might lead to an LED which are standard 3.3v LEDs. They are polarized (have + and -) but you can try one either way. They are just diodes that prevent current flowing on way so if it doesn't light up if connected wrong way, try the other way, nothing bad can happen.
Manual is not of much use when it comes to front panel.
Things to look for:
Is there only one Power/Start button with LED inside it ?
Are there separate lights for Disk activity ?
Is there Reset button ?

Thanks so much for all of your help! Much appreciated!
Sorry I should have included that information..
Yes, there is only one Power/Start button and it had a white LED inside of it.. If my memory is correct.. That LED light inside of the power switch was also for Disk Activity as it flickered when using the pc... There is no reset button on this computer. Just one power button that turned it on and if you hold it down for 10 seconds it would shut off the computer.

Those are just some things I fdon't like about brand name, ready built PCs, always something "special" for that make and model. 🙁
That LED n might till be usable but there are some possibilities
One is that it's dual purpose and/or dual color. In that case one of it's wires would lead to common , one to (probably that black wire), one to disk activity connector on the MB and one to power on indicator also on the MB. Reversing polarity on such LEDs produces different color.

Ok, thanks CountMike for your help, much appreciated...

Makes sense that the black wire is probably for disk activity... The switch I bought on Amazon is a 4 wire switch.. 2 wires (a double connecter) for the pwr and 1 single connecter that says LED+ and one single connecter that says LED-. I don't really care about disk activity etc... I would just like to be able to power on the pc and have a light that shows it is on.
As mentioned before when I touch the ends of the white and orange wires that I cut off of the switch I can start the pc.. So I just trace those back to the mobo and that is where I will put my new switch PWR cable connecters... I will trace the other 2 wires and put the LED+ and LED- on those pins (you said try one way and if it doesn't work reverse the cables, it will do no harm, they are polarized).
I guess I just won't worry about the black wire because I only have 4 wires from this switch anyways.. Although I am curious how they managed to "splice" the black wire into the other 4. I will rip the old wires apart after I get the new ones on and see how they have the black wire in with the 4 wires.. I'm assuming it is spliced into the LED+ or LED- cable?
Thanks again for the help.

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays
