Power switch not turning on pc (new motherboard)

I recently bought a new mother board (Asus strix h270f) and connected everything, the panel connectors for this motherboard are in different positions than the ones on my last motherboard, i plugged in the power sw to the power sw on my motherboard and it didnt power on the pc, i reversed the polarity and still nothing, i do not have a cpu installed at the moment and im wondering if that would be the issue, i thought it would at least power on, not get past the bios.
