power up/connect issues with SBG6580 modem/router

I purchased a SBG6580 Motorola modem/router. I tried Comcast support to no avail. It has good connection, does not drop me and seems fine most the time. Accept when turning the power off at night. EVERY day when turning it back on it has trouble connecting and the second or third light just continually flash, until power resetting it 1 or more times. Which is getting old. Yes I know I could leave it on 24/7 and have this solved, so please do not state the obvious, I just want to know if there is a way to optimize it before exchanging it. The firmware is 6.5.2.0. GA... I think it is current. Thank you.
 
It might have a problem or it might be that Comcast is putting your circuit into some kind of error status because there isn't a modem on it for 8 to 12 hours. It may take a while for Comcast to recognize the modem again after an extended outage and any modem you buy could do the same. Just a possibility...
