Question power USB hub

Ok. I have this power usb hub https://www.walmart.com/ip/Blackweb-7-Port-USB-3-0-Hub/630442973 So, what would be a good power usb hun to plug the Raspberry Pi 3 b+ to it. I have a portable USB hard drive with video on it

In theory, "yes", but reality "no" Google "how much current can a usb 3.0 port supply" Then google "how much current does raspberry pi 3 draw"

The RPi3B+ has 4 USB 2.0 ports, which, in theory means together they require 4 times the current that the port into which your RPi3B+.

So if you're running a bare RPi3B+, yes, but the moment you put something that requires power on either the GPIO or one of the USB ports, then it won't run properly.

I have done this. I added an Arduino Nano (50mA) to a USB Port which in turn operated 4 relays (50mA each). It sort of worked for a brief period.

Most Raspberry Pi forums I've read elsewhere recommend using the official mains adapter.
