Hello, I am using ANTECH TP3-650Watt Power supply with ASUS Sabertooth X79 Mainboard. My power supply have only two 6 Pin cables for PCI-E GFX card, thus I was using two 6-8pin adapters with my MSI 680 Lightening and it works just fine. The card died on me after 60 days and just replaced it with POWER COLOR AX7970.

Now this card will not turn on at all. When I press the Power button the fans turn on but there is no DISPLAY. I've double checked the DVI cables along with power cables. But nothing comes on display monitor.

This Radeon 7970 requires one 6 pin and one 8 pin power cable. I am using one native 6 pin a and (supplied) 6 to 8 pin adapter that came with this card. Do you all think I need a power supply with native 8 pin cable for Radeon to work? or my card might be dead. I called Powercolor and they recommended try this card in different computers. But I do not have anything to try this card on. I am out of ideas.

Also if 6 PIN PCI-E cable only provides 75w then why provide the 6 to 8 pin adapter.

Should I return this card back to NEW EGG and different brand? Any help will be appreciated.

reason I picked Powercolor 7970 was I got it for $379 (free shipping from new egg) Or I can buy a new power supply and try to see if it would work.

Solution
I would return it and grab the Sapphire card. Save yourself from headaches. There's no reason at why it wouldn't power up unless it's dead. So take it back and get something from Sapphire or Gigabyte.
