No offense, but what makes this better than something like say the 7870 hawk. I feel that if you are going to buy a 7870 now, it better be highly overclockable or very cheap. I have a feeling that this will fit neither of these criteria.

2 years old GPU tech selling like hot cakes. I love this GPU gen.

Great prices, lasts forever, no games really push these GPUs anvelope. Get at least a 7870 GHz and you'll be blazing any game in 1080p, max details.

not just a 7870... i got a tiny little 7770, and am playing games in 1080p on ultra or high.

but i agree with fishwithadeagle, if you want performance at the expected price range for that card, a reference 7870 with some aftermarket cooler like an accelero extreme 2/3, and unlocked voltages will probably give you a lot more bang for the buck at a lot more quiet levels then any "elite" version of the gpu out there. and if you don't care about a 20% boost in performance the stock version is good too.

the 7870-660-660ti-760-7950 are all as much or more gpu then you need if you're gaming at 1080p

That depends on the game, settings and the fps you are looking for.. For rec gamers at mins/mids you are correct. Computer parts are like cars, sure a Corvette would be fun to drive at Indy, but compare that to an Indy car?

For hardcore gamers, one 7870 (even oc) is like watching a strobe light on fps games. Anyone that has played at 120+ on a 120hz understands.

"Sadly, there was no word on what the card would cost, nor was there any information on pricing."

I too have a 7770 and play BF3 at 1080p with ultra, love it. The only reason I would want more is for multiscreen action.

Why don't they release a Devil 7970 instead? a highly overclock able 7970 from power color can compete ROG edition from asus and vapor edition from Sapphire nicely.

And the Asus ROG Ares II, the official 7990, and the Powercolor 7990. Get your facts straight.
