Powering An SFF PC Using Regular PSU Externally?

I'm currently using an 8 year old Acer Aspire X3200 and the PSU fan is starting to grind.

There's no way I'm paying £70-80 for a new SFF PSU! Is it possible to run my PC using a regular sized PSU, externally, feeding the wires/sockets through the case to power the system?

I currently use the system with it's cover off anyway, at the moment, as it doesn't fit with my graphics card (a fanless MSI jobby) installed.

Yes, as long as the SFF PSU was the same as the ATX PSU.

Thanks for the answer. You mean the ATX PSU needs to have the same spec as the SFF PSU?

No, not the same specs. Just that they are both 12V computer PSUs. I didn't want you using some power supply from another electrical device that may have different wiring.
