I was wondering if it be possible to use the plugs I been seeing that have usb jacks on them to power my usb powered speakers. I would like to get the speakers off my comp so I can free up a usb port and maybe build up a way to use a switch to turn on/off the speakers

Solution

Same way it will work if they have an audio cable as well as USB.

I own a pair of JBL Pebbles and I am able to use an external USB power source if I use the 3.5mm audio cable. Else, I have to use a USB port on my computer or hub connected to the computer. This makes things convenient for if I want to use the speakers on something else like a cellphone.

Or, a USB hub with individual switches

I have one of these:

a battery pack with a usb will work too.
The U in USB stands for Universal, literally it means universal. Universal Serial Bus. if the plug has usb then you are good.

the quality of the adapter is paramount. cheap ones like cheapo power supplies can cause issues.
I would use the one from your phone.

If the speaker is getting the audio from the USB, then this will not work.
If they are bluetooth then probably.
