Powerline Adapters not communicating

So I bought two units of the Zyxel PLA 2506 and followed the instructions to set them up and nothing. Tried trouble shooting for an hour or so and have come to a halt as I've tried everything I know to do. I have the two units in sockets just across the room from eachother and the middle light ( the one that I believe indicates their connection to eachother ) isn't so much as on. Any clue?

UPDATE:

I can get them to connect to each other by (I think) resetting them over a majority of the house but not when I plug the receiver end into any outlets in my room. Any ideas as to what could be causing this or how to fix this? I fear that its just due to poor circuit wiring but I seriously hope otherwise.

If your house has more than one ring main and the adapters are each plugged in to a different one, they cannot communicate. It's unlikely, however, that two sockets in the same room would be on different ring mains.
