So I'm looking at Powerline Gigabit Ethernet Adapters and found these on Amazon ...

http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-PA511-Powerline-Starter-Kit/dp/B0081FLFQE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1394922081&sr=8-2&keywords=ethernet+over+power

I have three rooms that I need ethernet in and I'm wondering if I need to buy three sets of these?

OR

They sell this, which just looks to be a receiver? Will one of the above and two of the below work?

I guess I'm just not sure exactly how these work. Trying to figure out what the best solution is to get ethernet to three rooms. If I buy three sets of these, would they all work together without interfering with each other if they are all plugged into the same outlet?

You are best off buying 3 units total one for each room. You would buy a pair and then a extra unit....of course all the same brand.

The device will form any-any type of virtual switch between all the units. You could use multiple pair and keep them separate by encryption keys but they still share the same electrical wires and interfere with each other.

Still it will degrade you performance running 3 instead of 2. You will get nowhere near the so called 500m these units claim, it is closer to 100m using only 2 units. When you run 3 it drops even more but it is still a better solution than running multiple pairs of units.
