I am having an issue with my powerline adapter. I have two devices connected to my network by way of powerline adapters, a PC and a DVD player.

I checked my powerline adapter that is connected to my DVD player, and it is working great! However, the powerline adapter to my PC used to work perfectly but for some reason it stopped working. This is what I tried:

1. Run a regular CAT 5 networking cable from the router to the PC to rule out problems with the network card in the PC. Network card works and I can connect using the network cable directly connected to the router.

2. Swap out the network cable connecting the PC to the powerline adapter to see if there are problems with the network cable. No problems with network cable but I cannot connect.

3. Swap out powerline adapter with another powerline adapter to see if the problem is solved. Still cannot connect.

4, Used a wall outlet tester to see if there are issues with the wall outlet. Test light is erratic upon testing. Checked another wall outlet and the test light is steady.

Would the wall outlet need to be replaced? The wall outlet has been there for many years.

Solution
I am concerned about the erratic light test. I would start with replacing the outlet. You may need to swap around the Powerline adapters to find a combo that works with the PC.

Also, it sounds like you have multiple Powerline adapters. Are they all connected to each other, or are you running simultaneous Powerline networks, as sometimes they can interfere with each other.
