1st, most likely you won´t need the adapter
2nd, connect the correct cables inside the correct end of the PSU and motherboard

Most likely you are using the wrong end to plug into the motherboard or the wrong cable delivered by the PSU

use the 8pin (4x4pin) to connect to the motherboard

Oh, so it's 4+4, not 4x4? The terminology you're using is confusing; modular power cables are never described as ____ to _____ because the end that connects to the PSU is proprietary, not standardized.

So, what you're saying is that the CPU port in your motherboard has an 8-pin port and 4-pin port? You only need the 8-pin unless you're doing aggressive overclocking. You don't need to populate both.

Avoid adapters on a PSU like they're the bubonic plague.

so i should just skip the 4 and only plug in the 8

Yes, that almost always works, you just need to not be aggressive overclocking because then you'd need that extra power. And if you did do that, you want a better PSU with extra cables that are actually providing extra power, not cheating it out with an adapter.

I would get a decent power supply , that one is not very good.

While I'm generally quite strict with PSUs, the GFM PowerSpecs aren't really *bad* though I wouldn't go out and purchase one if I was buying a new PSU. The cheap fan is a turnoff and the regulations are well below the top PSUs, but it's hard for a competently assembled PSU using LLC/half-bridge and independent regulation to be all *that* bad.
