Hello everyone,

I am new to PC building and am hoping to get some feedpack on the parts I have picked out so far. I am planning on using a 1080 for this build when they come out so substitute that for the 980.

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/yRLkcc

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($339.99 @ B&H)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($69.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($194.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($67.88 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($172.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card ($709.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Corsair 760T Black ATX Full Tower Case ($169.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($94.99 @ NCIX US)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($18.89 @ OutletPC)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) ($83.89 @ OutletPC)
Monitor: Asus PG279Q ROG Swift 165Hz 27.0" Monitor ($799.00 @ B&H)
Total: $2722.49

My goal is to game at 60+ fps on high/ultra settings in 1440p. This is more than I wanted to spend on the build so any recommendations on parts that will still get me to my goal for a cheaper price would be great. Any and all help regarding ways to lower the build cost without losing ability to play with high fps at 1440p is appreciated. Also if someone could just make sure that the parts I have picked out will work together, that would be awesome.

Solution
If this is a mostly gaming build, you could save quite a bit by using the i5 6600K and the Gaming 5 (my combo, works great). Nothing wrong with the i7 other than the added expense. The 550 watt PSU will be plenty for the GTX 1080, even with overclocking. Use the 750 if you want the option of going SLI at some point.

Do your replacing thing. Try this. Liquid cooled, cheaper, also performs just as good.

I would use an 850w for SLI. The pascal is slightly less efficient as maxwell, and dual 980ti needs 850w
