Pre Built 8.1 Backup and More Many Q's

How do I just backup the 8.1 OS?

Do I have to create a recovery partion on the HD, then back the OS to USB?

Can just download win 8.1 from MS? Will the internal key work for authentication?

There will be an option somewhere in the start menu to burn your recovery disks. Use it.

There is already a recovery partition on the HDD.

Maybe. I know it does for OEM disks, don't know about retail.

There is no recovery partition. That's why my confusion. I tried to use recovery drive from the control panel and copy the recovery drive the pc check box is grayed out. then I get message that some files are missing after clicking next.

when tried the other thing to create a system image. That wants 310 GB. I know I have not deleted that partition. I had been putting off making the recovery discs though.

Only stuff on this pc is online games and a few clips of game play.
