I guess you want the physical merchandise then....
As i understand it, it's the physical copy BUT you get a key for the beta early access when available for download.
Question is, will you be able to activate product cd-key on steam?... it doesn't say anywhere, so you'll probably have to contact EB games and ask first.
Game is not even listed on steam yet, and digital preorders on official homepage says "coming soon" under retailers, so i think its too early to answer

From EB:
"HOME DELIVERY"
When you preorder this product for home delivery, we take a small deposit from your credit card to secure your product. We'll deduct the remaining balance of your order from your credit card when your product is ready to ship, usually a few days...

Can you link me the page so I can check it out, the website usually tells it. Also it's not a a good idea to preorder since you never know i suggest waiting for a week after the release so you can look at reviews etc.

https://www.ebgames.ca/PC/Games/729284/destiny-2
"Eligible for Pickup In-Store."
But there are other sites for that purpose (allkeyshop has a database over other merchants prices for easy comparing)

I want to second what pcdiglett said "you never know", and add:
Pre-orders for non released games (ie. no prerelase/alpha/beta version) is a bad thing for the gaming industry, and ultimately, us.
If for some reason you're not familiar with No Mans Sky, google it really fast and you'll know right away. This is a perfect example of pre-orders gone bad.
Ultimately, we got lied too - game sold really well, but no one plays it because its crap 😛

Yeah i thought it would be too early to ask. But yeah i will ask a staff about a month before the release of the game

Yeah thats what i was thinking, i saw the box that seemed to be a dvd case.

Most of Activision games are on Steam, it is expected for Destiny 2 to be on Steam.
You should always get a code even if you are buying a physical version with or without a disc nowadays so you can download if you wanted to.
Games nowadays are tied to an account rather than disc so you would still need to input your key into a client/platform, so you will always be given a code.

Just pre-order from Steam. If you're worried about not having an optical drive, you can just buy an external optical drive. I used one for installing my first MOBO and GPU drivers on my first-time PC setup (setting up PC after build).
