donuts.

There should be some sort of tool, that when equipped will vibrate or
glow when you are near a trap. This could be an artifact or just an
object such as a wand of trap dectetion. This will be used instead of
that, be *much* rarer, and have unlimited uses.

Blessed will dectect a trap and show it.
Uncursed will tell you if a trap is near.
Cursed will not tell you anything, and always set off a trap whether it
is discovered or not.

I think this is more appropriate as an amulet, analogous to an amulet of
greed. In general, the Neckwear slot has to be managed more
strategically than the Tool slot, so you wouldn't be able to just wear
the amulet for the entire game, whereas you very well could a tool.

Just my two cents, that's all.

Adding some spoiler space for my reply.

Im not too keen on the Amulet of Greed-style working. To me, it seems a
little useless in that form.

I like the idea of the item and the +Pe bonus. Perhaps an artifact that
acted like a Ring of Searching but offered heightened awareness of traps.
(i.e performed a normal search per turn + an extra 'Detect Traps' roll)

Perception boost would be good for this because it would increase the chance
of detection. It seems to be quite balanced this way because although it
doesnt guaruntee that you'll know a trap when you get near one, it should
increase your chances significantly.

Perhaps this should be a Guarunteed artifact, usually findable around level
13-16 for the Pyramid.

One final suggestion. It could be a tool and could act like the Phial of
Caladriel. Where the Phial uses pp to cast light, this artifact may use pp
to cast Detect Traps. Blessed/Uncursed/Cursed status could determine how
much pp it uses and the spell effectivity in detecting traps and/or its
range.
