Hello,
How are you?
For the last week, I have been going back and forth about buying a new PC.
As I said on another thread, I currently have a late 2009 iMac that I will be selling.
I want to buy a PC that has more power for tasks like photo editing and that allows me to play current games.
Since I currently have an iMac, I have zero pc peripherals, so no mouse, keyboard or monitor. I have to buy everything from scratch. Also, no OS.

I have been debating either getting a prebuilt Asus Tytan machine or build a computer myself.
What is keeping me going back and forth is that there is a sweet promotion at a store here that I can get a 27 Asus monitor with the Tytan for an excellent bundle price.

So, the Tytan is an all in one solution, with keyboard, mouse and an Asus PB278Q monitor.
That is a 27 inch, 2560x1440 monitor that retails for 400 Euros alone.

So, the Tytan comes with:
- Intel Core i5-4670K
- Asus Mainboard with Z87 chipset (Don't know the model)
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX770 (2048 MB)
- 128gb SSD (Don't know the model)
- 1 tb Sata HDD (Don't know the model)
- DVD-RW Dual Layer
- 700w PSU (Don't know the model)
- 8 gb DDR3 Ram (Don't know the model)
- Standard ATX ROG case with card reader.
- USB Mouse and Keyboard

This setup goes for 1180 including the monitor.
I think it is a sweet price.

After this, I have been playing with some configs myself and coming up with things like:
A top of the line (kind of) option.
MSI Z97 GAMING 9 AC Z97 ATX Sockel 1150
Intel Core i7-4790K
16GB (2x8GB) Corsair Vengeance Pro Blue DDR3-1866 CL9 RAM DIMM - Kit
Asus AMD Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II 4GB GDDR5 2xDVI/HDMI/DP
Plextor M6e 256GB SSD M.2 PCI-Express 10GB/s
Corsair RM Series RM1000 ATX 2.4 aktiv PFC Netzteil 80+ Gold (modular)
Corsair Obsidian 650D - Midi Tower
Toshiba DT01ACA200 2TB 64MB 7.200rpm SATA600

This I can get for 1365.

Another config I did was:
ASRock Fatal1ty Z97 Professional SATA600/eSATA/HDMI/DP ATX Mainboard Sockel 1150
Intel Core i5-4690K
16GB (2x8GB) Corsair Vengeance Pro Blue DDR3-1866 CL9 RAM DIMM - Kit
Asus AMD Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II 4GB GDDR5 2xDVI/HDMI/DP
lextor M6e 256GB SSD M.2 PCI-Express 10GB/s
Corsair RM Series RM1000 ATX 2.4 aktiv PFC Netzteil 80+ Gold (modular)
Cooler Master CM 690 III Midi Tower USB3.0
Toshiba DT01ACA200 2TB 64MB 7.200rpm SATA600

This I can get for 1160.

Both these configurations I did don't come with a mouse, keyboard, monitor or Windows license.
If I add those, with a 27 inch monitor, the prices go for 1915 for my first config and 1710 for the second.

I know they are better than the Tytan, but are also a lot more expensive!
So I am thinking the Tytan is good enough to run all current games and some games down another year or so and then I can just upgrade it as time goes by.
A custom config is better, but new things are coming out everyday, so I'm thinking about getting the Tytan...
Am I thinking this ok?
What's your thoughts?
Please help me out here.

Thank you.
Regards!

I'd think you would want to get something with an LGA 1150 cpu socket and a Z97 chipset that is going to be Broadwell compatible so you can have the option of upgrading your CPU when the new Intel Broadwell chips arrive. I don't think the Z87 boards will be supporting it, but that's not a certainty. That ASUS rig has a Z87 chipset so you might want to research that a bit. You could probably get into something in your price range that will do all you want but give you the option to not become irrelevant in six months to a year.
