I was thinking about de-lidding (just theoretically) and wondered since my prebuilt's warranty is expired, is the cpu's expired? Or is it under AMD's
It has likely expired as well. How old is your system?I was thinking about de-lidding (just theoretically) and wondered since my prebuilt's warranty is expired, is the cpu's expired? Or is it under AMD's
alr thanksAMD and Intel do not separately warranty parts that were obtained through the purchase of a prebuilt system. All part warranties for prebuilt systems must go through the vendor you bought the prebuilt system from and if that warranty is expired then you have no recourse.
The warranty expired in december, and its from Omen so as soon as I case swapped I was pretty much done with the warranty. Its only a year old thoIt has likely expired as well. How old is your system?
Yeah but I was 12 and had no clue what to do aside from a ltt video, if I wanted to get a pc now I would build it. I've case, psu, mobo, and cpu cooler swapped in the past month, and I'm getting an ssd next month. 100+ hours on pcbs1&2 helped alot.No problem.
AMD and Intel both warranty their CPUs for 3 years, so if you had bought the parts individually it would still be under warranty. Since you bought a prebuilt, the only warranty on parts is the warranty on the whole system because vendors buy in bulk and they get tray warranties that are only honored directly between the vendor who is the actual purchaser and the OEM, which is AMD or Intel.
Just another reason why we tell people to built their own systems.
Just be forewarned, delidding carries significant risk of breaking your CPU beyond repair. It is not recommended.Yeah but I was 12 and had no clue what to do aside from a ltt video, if I wanted to get a pc now I would build it. wasnt planning on it, way above my level thought I killed my gpu after painting it 2 weeks ago, cmos reset fixed it but I was panickingJust be forewarned, delidding carries significant risk of breaking your CPU beyond repair. It is not recommended.
From the above...
"Just be forewarned, delidding carries significant risk of breaking your CPU beyond repair."
Significant risk cannot be overstated.
A delid should be the last thing you try.
