I have a 2010 iMac that I have been using with my Precision 7810 Desktop. My desktop (2014) is really slow & the upgrade path is bleak. It took me a long time and many wrong purchases to finally get the right cord to connect the two together and use my Imac just as a monitor. I still love the monitor, but editing 4k on this desktop is hopeless. New stuff is out of the question.
My question: I have a Precision 7720 laptop that has no problem with 4k. The iMac has a display port. My laptop has a display port. Is it too good to be true that I could just get display port to display port cord? I wanted to ask before I crawl behind the desk with a flashlight trying to redo everything.
