Predator x34 vs x34p

Admirable
So I had been planning on getting the Acer Predator X34 pretty soon, hopefully Cyber Monday, if I can get one for a decent price, I wouldn't be totally upset paying full price, but I want to know if it would be better to wait for the X34P. As far as I can tell the only differences are the NATIVE 100Hz refresh rate, which means it is guaranteed (whereas the X34 isn't?) and a steeper curve. One other great point is they added a joystick to navigate the OSD easier than with buttons.

But a couple of things for me.
1.) I am not sure how I will feel about the steeper curve. Apparently it helps in gaming, but with regular stuff it's annoying, according to some people. So I just don't know how big of a point that is for me.
2.) The joystick is nice, but I already have an Acer monitor with an OSD that is pretty annoying to try to use so that wouldn't be too much of a deal for me, if I were to go for the X34.
3.) The refresh rate is pretty big for me, I definitely want to use 100Hz, since I have a GTX 1080 and an i7 6700K, both overclocked, that should be more than capable of hitting that in pretty much everything. If overclocking the X34 to 100Hz will hurt the monitor that much I would wait, but if it's no big deal and I still get the refresh rate I don't think I would care too much.
4.) No clue on when the X34P is coming out. There is no release information that I have found, I could easily be waiting until late December, or even January or February and I don't really want to wait that long.
5.) Only Speculation of the price, and Amazon will probably gouge the price a bit anyways. I am totally prepared for this and if I feel like I am truly getting a better product I am willing to pay a bit extra.

So what do you guys think? Is it worth the wait or should I just go ahead and pull the trigger on the X34 after Black Friday/Cyber Monday?

I would just grab the x34 since the x34p doesn't seem like much of an upgrade. I got the ASUS version a few weeks ago and my only concern was that a 165hz version would be available soon, which doesn't seem to be the case from what I could find.

1) I really don't notice the curve unless looking at the monitor from the side. I don't use this monitor exclusively for gaming so I am completely fine with not have a super curved monitor.

2) The ASUS has the joystick already but after initial setup I haven't had a need to go into the menus again so not sure it would be a deal breaker not having it.

3) The "overclocking" is just as simple as selecting the 100hz refresh rate in the monitor's menu. My understanding is that if it doesn't work at 100hz it is defective and you send it back for a new one. I run mine at 100hz with no issues.

Now for the bad. Some IPS glow is to be expected in the corners. It isn't terrible but unfortunately it seems to be a common issue with this panel. Also, most game I have played lately support ultra wide but rendered cut scenes almost never do, so you get black bars on the side, or the sides and top which can be annoying.

Another thing I forgot to mention is it is supposed to be a better panel as well. Supposedly with less BLB. But I barely notice the BLB I have on my monitor now when gaming and on black screens it is BAD. Wondering if THAT should factor in as well.

If they are only addressing the BLB probably not much difference since. I don't have any BLB just IPS glow in the corners. I have heard either ASUS or Acer say they would fix this issue. I know they both had some QC issues with BLB that was supposed to have been fixed already. They glow I am talking about and they claim is normal is in the link below about halfway done the page.

It may just be glow, but mine is a pretty cheap panel and I have also seen pictures that look like my monitor and it isn't comforting, but I barely notice mine even though it is pretty bad. Let's just say this screen has less IPS glow.

In addition people are speculating the new X34P is going to have QC issues just like most other new monitors. At this point I am really leaning towards the older, seemingly straightened out, X34, because it does seem like Acer has gotten their stuff together on these monitors and I think I have a better shot at getting a really good one.

Plus I don't feel like waiting another 4-6 months for them to sort out issues. : /

Pauls hardware said ( after talking to acer guys) that x34p probably gonna be overclockable to 120Hz. Im definitely waiting to buy an updated version. Also its been said numerous times that release date is Q4 2016.

Aw man i'm DEFINITELY interested in that. Guess I better at least wait for some specs to come out to decide lol.

1 - Steeper curve from 2300r to 1900r
2 - better menu functionality with the joystick
3 - The back of the monitor got rid of that horrid gloss black finish
4 - 100hz out of box (rumored to OC to 120 hz)
5 - the stand now swings from left to right the previous version did not

This monitor WAS scheduled for Q4 but now......https://imgur.com/aroVqWd

Personally I am going to wait for tax time and pick up my GTX 1080ti and the Predator X34P.
I would rather get all the bells and whistles I want rather than settle for a slightly lesser model and regret it later. In regards to QC, my personal opinion on the matter is that they have ironed out all the QC issues on the previous model and this is really just fine tuning. If I do get one that has issues Amazon has a fantastic return policy.
