Question Predator x35/HDR questions

Hello all! first time here.
Ive just recently purchased my first HDR monitor, The x35. Everywhere i looked online talked about how 1000nit "hurts to look at" and let me first say that im not disappointed by this monitor, But i dont get that effect, the monitor is quiet comfortable to look at when its suppose to be blinding?
This is my first time with HDR and i want to make sure im not missing something or screwed a setting up somewhere? any help would be amazing!

I ofc have HDR in windows toggle on along with these settings in Gforce
-3440x1440 10bit RGB full range 144hz

I have watched a few videos on YouTube for "testing" HDR content
Aside from that I have tested it in games only as I do not own any type of HDR video content

Yes I have, GOW5 was set to 90 contrast 1200 max brightness and a 170 paper white.. the whole reason for downloading that is its suppose to be the staple for HDR gaming.... maybe my eyes are just shot so it looks dull to me
