I started getting the following message 6 weeks after buying an acer aspire notebook with win8 preinstalled:
baby blue "app style" screen appears every 2-3 hours asking me to activate windows. the screen includes an "go to settings activate" button. When I press it, I end up in the new-look settings screen. On the left is the activate now button and on the right I am told "windows can't activate right now. Try later. If this issue persists contact your system administrator or customer service." If I then press the windows key+X I am back on the desktop and all is well, but three hours later the next notification pops up...
When I called Acer customer service I was told to reinstall windows 8, supposedly the only solution. This leaves me incredulous. Any suggestions why this is occirring and what a less drastic fix might be?
