So i am building a new gaming pc with a pentium g4560 but am planning to buy a gigabyte h110m-s2 mobo because i dont want to spend an extra 20$ for a better chipset. I am aware that i will need a skylake processor to update the bios to make it kaby lake compatible but i have something else in mind.

I am planning to buy all the parts and a pentium g4400 instead of the g4560 and then i will update the bios with it and return it and then complete the rig with the g4560.

Now, is there a way to update the bios from the bios itself as i dont want to reinstall windows once for updating the bios and another time after installing the new processor.

Solution
Is all that hassle really worth it? - ordering one cpu, updating bios, returning cpu, ordering another cpu, waiting on delivery?
I'd either keep the first cpu (their operating frequency difference is meager 6%) or go with b250 chipset board to begin with.

As to answer to your question -
yes - you can update bios without OS. The feature is called Q-Flash;

no - there is no need to reinstall windows after such cpu upgrade.

I don't know where you got your goofy 6% number but if trying to game some games won't even load in with the 4400 as it's a true dual core the 4560 is basically an i3 and can hang in there in any game out today.

Op you better check return policies most sites will not let you return a processor other than for the same one. To stop people from doing exactly what you're doing. You also may end up paying shipping and or restocking fee. Just pay for the b250 chipset. It's actually better anyways. As it's more upgradable with the option of 4 ram slots
