My first ever HC character . . .
My first ever online character . . .
Only my second character to finish the game . . .

http://www.geocities.com/neithskye/GuardianFaethm.jpg

W00t! My first Guardian! Okay, is only a skelliemancer, but still. :)

I won't bore you all with some long account, but, boy, it was some
kind of experience.

Notable incidents include receiving a "Your Connection Has Been
Interrupted" message the minute I stepped into the Normal Blood Moor
(some kind of omen?), soloing the Hell Arcane Sanctuary and Maggot
Lair (of which I did a full clear of all 3 levels just for the heck of
it, and because I'm insane), taking out 4 champ dolls hanging out
across a moat in the NM Sewers with just my Bone Spear, and many, many
others.

My proudest moment came when I soloed the Hell Plains of Despair with
its 50 billion boss or champ gloams. I used more potions in the Hell
Plains than the entire game combined, and never have I felt more
frazzled in my entire life. :)

My deepest gratitude and appreciation go out to chainbreaker who did
more for me than I ever could have imagined. From taking the time to
educate me on chat commands, basic online gameplay and everything else
I never learned in SP, to kindly donating items I never dreamed I
would ever own, to words of encouragement, he even stripped down his
current ladder necro and gave me all of his equipment. A true class
act, thy name is chainbreaker. Thank you.

Thank you also to those who played and quested with me - Bullet,
Clincher, Fred and Darrel Hoffman - despite the fact I was a total
online n00b and really had no idea how to play in a team.

Finally, to Bingain, without whom I would have been totally lost, my
endless gratitude. My Keyboard Lifeline, he was with me from Act I
Normal to Act V Hell, always offering help, or donating godly items,
or with just the right thing to say when I was particularly frazzled.
To the first time HC player, there could not have been a better person
to play with. Thank you.

As for Faethm, my necromancer, he's been at the bar for the last
several days. I'd say he's earned it. :)

Congrats, I never played a HC. I think it's way longer because you have to
be more carefull and my gf think I'm too much often at the computer.. and
can play 3-4 hours in a row when she's working some evening and again, I'm
not just playing..

I think it would take me like 3-4 months and help from a few people here..
with some items, etc. If I go solo it could take 6 months I guess?

Were you joining public game or only when you knew the players in the game?

Sincerely congrats - You´ve earned it.

It´s a wonderous feeling getting Your own Gaurdian the first time. There
will be more?

Cheers

You should enlarge the pic, frame it, and hang it above your computer at
work. It'll boost your morale when you're low. Also you can make copies of
it and sell on ebay to cash in a little.

Even though I tried to join you every now and then to steal the drops (cuz I
can't compete with others), you had achieve some toughest challenges all by
youself, which was undoubtedly worth the biggest celebration -- buy youself
a bottle of nice champagne and then buy Bing a house.

Did you purposely omit the $9.95/hour service bill I sent you?

I dunno. I kinda decided about 5 minutes into the game that HC wasn't
for me. For example, the incident with all those gloams in the Plains
actually didn't leave me feeling all that proud, just drained and mad.

But I'll give it another try, and if I really decide then that I'm not
enjoying myself, then no more.

Um, lose the girlfriend? 😛

I posted my message on the 3-week anniversary that I started my necro
and, from what I've seen of BattleNet, that's actually pretty slow.
But I like to take my time, don't rush, kick open every barrel, etc.

I use my necro now to MF. It seems like you're considering taking the
plunge into online HC (dunno if you play online now). With that in
mind, and if you will be on the US East HCL, I have been saving any
equipment that I think might benefit a low-level character to give to
you in case you decide to join. I'm sure there are others as well
who'd be glad to help.

> Were you joining public game or only when you knew the players in the game?

No, never join public games in HC.

I used the same password for all my games that all my friends knew,
and they'd pop in whenever they could.

Nah. No one would understand.

I may *ahem* have this as my Desktop picture at work, however.

Wow, I'd heard of the high price of success, but this is ridiculous. :)

Yes.

Now that I think about it, I purposely omitted a great number of things. :)

Congratulations! I still remember my first Guardian fondly (still have
her, too), and it's a remarkable achievement! Ah, this makes me want to
play HC online again. :) Sadly, I ran out of people to play with in the
current ladder session. I still have to get one to Guardianship in this
round ... ran out of steam, and people to play with, in Hell act 1.
(This is on East.)

You should stop by the chat room. Most of the regulars there are HC players
and could assist you in getting that Guardianship. In fact, I should be
moving my sorc to hell tonight. I just need a half of a level more and I'm
ready to move on. Look me up.

Dunno why I think so, but was this your trapper?

East HCL Ladder here, too. And still deep in the clutches of the
honeymoon period since I've been online less than a month. :)

If you ever wanna play, or if my skelliemancer can lend you some help
with whatever, look me up: *neithskye.
