I accidentally pressed the clear CMOS button on my motherboard while my PC was running. It shut itself off and after a bit of delay I managed to power it back on. Everything seems to work fine.

Was just wondering if I may have damaged anything and if theres something I should do/look out for. Everywhere I look online says to make sure the PC is unplugged before pressing clear CMOS but cant find any answer as to what might happen if its powered on. Any insight would be appreciated

Im using the mag z790 tomahawk wifi motherboard

Thanks

Difficult to know.

One result of unexpected shutdowns (where unexpected means that Windows did not have time to do its' normal housekeeping routines) is corrupted files.

I recommend waiting and keep an eye on things.

Hopefully nothing bad happened.

You can look in Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer to learn more about any problems that appear.

And, if so, then try using the Window's built in troubleshooters, "sfc /scannow", and "dism" to resolve the problem(s).
