Hey guys and gals! I'm trying to pick a PC case. My price range is in the 100 to 200 range willing to go a little higher if the case meets my needs. I would like a case with 3 to 4 fans would like to have fans on the bottom of the case and 2 to 3 tooless drive trays. Rgb preferred not required (seeing as basically any component you buy now has rgb) if you do recommend an rgb case can you please recommend one with fan/rgb controller on case. Side note the only cases that seem to have fan/rgb controllers are nzxt cases. Are those the only cases with fan/rgb controllers. PS would like the case to have fan controllers on case or would accept software accompanied with the case to control fans. If you recommend a case with rgb and it doesn't allow to change the color of the leds please try to find one that has green leds trying to go for a green and black build. I know these are pretty specific details but I know what I want. Thank you in advance- yours truly

Corsair makes cases with built in RGB controllers. I have the 570X and it has 3 buttons to control the fans. You could also replacve them with the LL series RGB fans and use the iCUE software to control the fans color and speeds.

A lot of cases that include RGB has the controllers on the case now.

As for the bottom mounted fans, not a lot have more than 1 bottom mounted fan.

I have never understood this phenomena of modern cases not supporting 5.25'' CD/DVD bays. It's like I'm the only person in existence that has a bunch of old retail games that aren't redeemable on digital platforms, And the only person who has blue-ray movies I want to rip/watch on my PC.

That's why I love my Cosmos II and hate my NZXT.

I'd love to learn this telepathy technique that allows me to install and play media off of discs without the use of a drive.

I understand the need for some people to not have them anymore. However I understand the need to still have them it's ridiculous that it's not a half and half type deal. If I want to find a case with a 5.25 I have to buy an older model or really search for one. But I prefer to install an os off a disc. Using a thumb drive is a hassle for me. I also would like to watch blue rays and burn cds as well. I'll check out the cosmos II though

Yeah, that's why I call it a phenomena, because 95% of modern cases don't come with them. It would be nice to see at least a few more models with drive bays.

The Cosmos II is pretty old and is likely discontinued. There is the Anniversary edition if you're curious. I link below. The major difference is that you get a tinted panel, but you lose the two panel mounted fans seen on the original design. It's a pity because those panel fans work awesome for GPU cooling.

It's a great case if you want ultimate expansion options. I personally prefer the original design. Btw the description of the drives is a little vague on that page. It takes 13 HDD's and 2 of those are hot-swappable, which I personally found to be extremely convenient.

External USB drives have taken their place and do the job that's needed just as well, especially with USB 3 which has more bandwidth than SATA does, well 3.1 Gen 2 anyways. Gen 1 was about the same bandwidth as SATA. Its also mostly due to higher bandwidth internet connections allowing for streaming. As well the majority of PC games are now digital. Even when they come on a disc its just to activate it not install it. Kind of makes those drives obsolete.

Due to that they can remove the 5.25" bays and instead fit a third fan for better air flow and even triple fan rad setups.

The USB optical drive market must be booming. I'd rather just use one of the 7 drives I already own, set it and forget it. It's always with the PC that way which I find more convenient. I also enjoy having multiple optical drives at the ready. Never had a problem with cooling on older case designs myself. The 9 fans in my Cosmos II is more than sufficient.

I get the impression that people just want that uniform aesthetic at the front, which is fair enough. Guess I'm at the age where water is more a gimmick than a function and has never been a necessity for any build I've done. Fans do look cool though, just not cool enough to warrant the loss of practicality that comes with optical drives and hot-swap bays and fan controllers. Still, wouldn't mind seeing a slightly larger selection of traditionally designed cases.
