Previously known networks now unidentified

I have a windows 7 laptop that is identifying and connection to my router both wirelessly and through a wired connection, but it won't connect to the internet. I have three other computers and two smart phones that all connect to the network, so it isn't my network. I have a dongle that ususally works, but I have the same problem with that. I have tried other networks with the same problem.
My husband and I have tried a variety of common sense type solutions but we are both stumped. I really need that particular laptop for my work which is entirely dependant on an internet connection so I am getting desperate now.

Do a test and take the router out of the equation.
Hook up the Ethernet cable into the router directly into the laptop and see if you can get online that way.
