Previously used HDD in new pc build

I have been using an old rig for some time now but i have decided to uprgrade, i have switched out almost all my components but the hard-drive. if i connect the hard drive into my new pc will it boot windows 8 like my old pc had? if not what can i do to make it work.

All you have to do is backup your files and reinstall Windows 8.

Windows doesn't like it when you change the motherboard. It'll think it's been installed in a new PC (which it technically has) and require you to buy a new license.

If you reinstall W8 it will get around that. You can even use the same product key that you used to install W8 the first time.
