My hard drive used to work fine until about 2 months ago when I reset my computer.
After I reset my computer, the Hard Drive was no longer seen in Windows Explorer (Windows runs from my SSD, which works perfectly).
since then I have run quite a few tests and stuff to get it working, until eventually I set it down and called it a day. But now I am determined to get it working again, I'm asking here.
Here are some of my findings and other important info:
- It is a 2Tb Seagate Barracuda
- The Hard Drive is recognised in the BIOS (along with how much space it holds)
- Sometimes I find if I RESTART (not shut down) the computer, the BIOS will no longer see it after it has booted back up
- The SATA Cable and Motherboard Port are working fine, as I connected it to a different Hard Drive I had lying around, and it worked fine.
- If the Hard Drive in question is connected, the computer takes substantially longer to boot up (~3mins compared to usual 13 seconds)
- Windows Explorer doesn't see it EVER
- Device Manager sees it as an "unknown device" under the 'Disk Drives' tab
- Disk Management is very interesting - it says it is "Not initialised":

If I right click on Disk 1 and press "Initialise":

After I press "OK":

If I right click on Disk 1 and press "Properties", and then go on the "Volumes" tab:

If you want any other information/screenshots from Device Manager or anywhere else, I will be more than happy to do so.
- Once upon a time I had Ubuntu on the hard drive, before I had Windows and used the SSD. On my BIOS, it says "Ubuntu" on the drive. If i try to boot from ubuntu however, the screen goes black for about a minute before the Windows 10 logo comes and Windows just starts loading from my SSD. (Please note that I don't want a fix to this problem, as I don't want to use Ubuntu)
I understand that all this information is so specific, but I am only expecting people to know about a few of these things, or similar issues involving similar symptoms and be able to tell me how the problem was fixed then.
All I want to know is how to get Windows to see and recognise my Hard Drive, and know that it is 2Tb, not 0B as everything on Windows is telling me it is. As I said, if you need any more info/screenshots, just tell me and I will do so.
I would much prefer that I get to keep the data that is on the Drive, however it is not so important that I wouldn't be prepared to format the drive IF I knew that would fix it - mostly because I can't buy a new 2Tb drive, so losing all my data would be better than not having any storage at all.
Please do what you can to help, and I thank you in advance
