Price for Old CPU's

The cost of buying a old second hand PIII (700Mhz and above) is dearer than new P4's in general.

I know that stocks are low but it is rediculous!

I've rang PC shops to see what they will buy a eg. 700 Mhz Cel socket 370 CPU of me and they said around $20 bucks. But if you buy one from them they said $160 bucks. What a rip off!

So? It's just like SDram's twice the price of DDR ram now.

They don't want your sh*t, it's worthless to them.

Remember the rule of supply and demand, the demand for them is almost 0 now.

Ha ha, worthless, I don't think so.

They use old parts to upgrade older PC's and make a fortune. I not begruging them for making profit, but a rip off is what it is!

Your right. In fact I had 3 sticks of SDRAM kicking around in a foil pack in my tech case for months and it was in the road of everything and in fact going to get broken or fail due to ESD failure.

I had to go over to work on a friends PC and they had 64 MB of hardware RAM so I ripped that stick out and fired it onto the top shelf of his computer desk and installed 2 of the sticks of SDRAM giving him 256MB of PC2100 memory. The third stick I had written BAD on the side with a laundry marker I left next to the 64MB stick I fired onto the top shelf of his desk...just in case it worked in his beast and one of the other 2 I installed failed. NO CHARGE for any of the work or memory I was happy to see it get used.

He had a NEC Intel 400MHz CPU a 15 gig hard drive bolted standing-up in the front of the case bay..Grrrr (no shiit factory install) and his BIOS was Dated 1998 so I cracked that up to the latest BIOS version.

At least he can read his emails at blinding speeds now just above the bursting into tears MODE where you have to wait from 4 to 5 minutes on a system re-boot to now only about 3 minutes............Win98 NEC software CD install.

He wont part with the Factory CD so I cant install a clean version of Win98 after I rip the NEC partition and Master C:\ Partition out and re-install it clean and tweaked for performance.

The NEC software bundle is dragging that boat anchor down to the grave real fast.

I thought PC2100 was DDR memory, and you installed it in an SDR motherboard??
