asrock z87 pro3 + a core i5 non-k cpu will make a decent budget combo. better, if intel allows bclk overclocking as well as partial turbo-based overclocking.
assuming those are close to us prices we're looking at about +$50 over comparable lga 1155 boards.
Yes, but you didn't point out that these are early release prices. It'll go down over time. The same thing happened with 6 & 7 series motherboard and series before them.
At this point in time... The AsRock Pro3/Pro4 boards seem to be a good deal... considering that the B85 boards aren't that cheaper than the Z87 ones. You could buy one of those boards with a cheap Pentium and later upgrade to a K model CPU.
Hopefully they'll be 21% less in the US. I'd like to include Haswell in my new build but a 5-10% performance improvement isn't worth paying a release price premium for.
