Primary and slave HD problems. Need Help Please!

I have a (Primary HD) WD2500 HD that has SATA and a Maxtor (SLAVE) that has a serial cable . I was wondering how I can make this work? I need my WD2500 (has windows xp) be my primary and my Maxtor (has UBUNTU) be my SLAVE Drive. How can I do this? Thanks!

when you say the maxtor has a serial cable, do you mean sata(serial ata) or an old school serial cable(horrendously slow)? If they are both serial ata/sata, you should be able to enter the mobo bios prior to either one booting and set a boot priority. If you want your xp drive to be the boot drive, set it so it has priority over the ubuntu drive. If you want to boot from the ubuntu drive sometimes, switch boot priority to that drive first.
