i've got a gigabyte gtx 1050 2gb.
my primary monitor is a Benq GL2250 thats connected from my gpu to my monitor using hdmi -> hdmi to dvi-d converter -> monitor.

i got a monitor for 10$ thats 4:3 17" but it only has a vga input, my gpu only has displayport, hdmi (taken) and dvi-d(i think)

can i connect the second monitor to my motherboard? it will usually just be showing discord or youtube videos.
also will it have any performance issues with my i5-4460?

Solution

Yes, you can.
You will need to enable multi-monitor setting in BIOS. Integrated video output is disabled by default, when discrete graphics card is in system.

Performance issues because of this? No, shouldn't be any. CPU may heat up a bit more, since iGPU is being utilized.
