Looking for some deals on new GPUs, as it's currently Prime Day sale and Newegg also having its own sale.

I've been going back and forth between 13900k and 13700k; i7-13700k has a good deal today at $359 on Newegg , lowest price I've seen, so I might go for the 13700k due to $210 difference.

Now looking for a mid range GPU that will be good for 1080p and potentially 4k in future. Trying to keep GPU cost to $300-400.

$319 MSI Mech Radeon 6750 XT 12 GB (Newegg)
$290 Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 Twin Edge OC 12 GB (Newegg)
$290 Powercolor Radeon 6700XT 12 GB (Amazon)

Which one would you choose? Wouldn't mind spending a little more for a 16GB card, but they all appear to approach $500.

Ideas and thoughts?

I wouldn't touch an Intel 13th-gen CPU. Just look at the insane power draw:
power-applications.png

I wouldn't choose any of those cards for 4K. Not only do they not have enough performance, they don't have enough VRAM. A 4K card should have no less than 16GB of VRAM. My RX 6800 XT can do 4K Ultra in Guardians of the Galaxy but not in Jedi Survivor. If I didn't have that 16GB frame buffer, I would probably get stuttering at 4K high settings. A 12GB card might be able to do 4K low settings but not much more.

1080p to 4k is a MASSIVE jump in resource requirements. nothing in the 3-400 range is really going to be good at 4k. especially not in a couple years. the 6700xt from powercooler is god enough for 1440p at the most. it's the one off that list i'd go for for the money. max out 1080p or decent settings at 1440p with that card.

you're going to have to worry about 4k down the road at the next upgrade cycle for you. cause your budget is not 4k ready yet :)

What are you planning on using the PC for?

Personally I'd get the 13700K of those two, but choices will massively depend on what you're using it for.

I was going to get a 6750 XT, but I don't trust MSI's twin fan coolers for something that uses that much power (everything else was around $360+). Their 3 fan is backordered and thus doesn't come with the Starfield Bundle so I opted to get the 6800 XT Amazon's selling for $480. It's a lot more money, but honestly long term it is a better overall investment. If the three you've listed are all you're seriously considering the 6700 XT would be the one to go with.

Newegg has ETA on the 3 fan MSI 6750 XT as 7/12/23, but yes, no Starfield Bundle. Tough choice...

I did chat with one of their agents and they said unless it's in stock it won't get the bundle and the extra $40 off ends at midnight so even though it's supposed to be available soon the price won't be. It seemed silly to spend that much on a card and not get the free game especially since that's the version of the game that comes with an expansion.

Good to know. I checked this morning, the 3 fan version of MSI 6750XT still on backordered, now ETA 7/14/23. So who knows when it will be available...

I went ahead and ordered my parts for a new build and finally bought all of the parts, including the 13700k (too good of a deal to pass up, esp since when OC it approaches the 13900k's performance, not that I have plans for OC). I also ordered the 2 fan MSI 6750XT w/12GB.

I'm going to continue and scour for deals on a 16GB 3 fan higher end Radeon card. If I find one with a solid price, I may purchase it and then decide to return the 6750XT since I have a 30 day return window with Newegg.

My Newegg order had a slight delay, so I looked at few more video cards.

Scouring Facebook Marketplace, I found someone local to me is selling a lightly used and never mined (or so he claims) XFX Merc 6900XT for $500; comes with original packaging and materials.

Any ideas if $500 is a good price for a lightly used 6900XT? Online reviews suggest it's very power hungry, but it has 16GB VRAM and I could game at 4K. I ordered a Corsair 1000W PS, so the power should be there.

Just too many choices.

The 6950 XT brand new was down to $580 during the sales so I'm not really sure I'd consider $500 for a used 6900 XT to be all that great a deal especially if you're interested at all in Starfield.

Thanks for the comparison model. I agree, $500 is not a great deal, $425 perhaps for used. The minor hunt continues.

Did some research over the weekend, and I'm seeing that GPU prices have really come back down to earth due to covid/crypto mining. Some GPUs were going for 2-3-4x the prices were seeing today, which is eye dropping.

I'm likely to return the 6750XT upon receipt and not even open it. Newegg has 30 day return policy. I'll do most of the build first, utilize the integrated GPU on the 13700k temporarily, and then install the video card.

Thought about buying a used 6800XT or 6900XT via FB marketplace and Ebay, but I'm a little suspicious of the cards being used 24/7 for mining, so buying a used GPU to save a few bucks is a no. Thanks to @thestryker for pointing out the 6950XT.

Could use some opinions. Which of the following would be the better buy for today and last 5-7 years? I should have thought of this during Prime Day, but oh well, that's in the past.

XFX Speedster SWFT19 6800XT for $509
XFX Speedster MERC 319 Core 6800XT for $529
XFX Radeon RX 6950XT Speedester MERC 319 for $579 (out of stock currently on B&H)
ASRock Phantom RX 6950XT 16 GB for $599

Anyone buy anything on B&H before? How's their customer service? Do they give people qualms for returns?

$/perf wise the 6800 XT is probably going to end up being the better deal, but the 6950 XT would last longer for 4k.

recent GPU tests (they have newer test platforms than back when 6800 XT/6950 XT came out):

6950 XT would be around 3090 performance here: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-founders-edition/31.html

direct comparison here: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-review/5

I've bought from BH several times, but have never had to return anything so I can't speak to that aspect.

If you don't care about Raytracing, both 6700XT and especially 6750XT are A LOT better than 3060.
Yes DLSS is better than FSR,but given the difference in raw power,DLSS might not bring 3060 ahead in fps.
Picture quality on the other hand is usually if not always in favor of DLSS.
IF RT is your goal,3060 will kill them from what I've seen Ampere vs RDNA2 RT benchmarks.
Perhaps AMD improved drivers and difference isn't as massive as it used to be.

Also I can't help but wonder if FSR3 shall work on RDNA2 cards(like 6700XT and 6750xt)or just RDNA3.
IF it does,3060 might have zero advantages.
