I have been trying to OC my cpu for the first time in my life. I currently own an Asus Z77 and seen some people on youtube follow a similar structure.

Without having a clue, I plugged in the following numbers
44 preset
100 multiplier
Auto voltage (Off-set mode)

I have been tinkering on windows and my idle temps were around 38-40 C.

I realized that I have to stress test my system and installed Prime95.

When I ran the program my core temps were as follows;
Core 0 - 84 C
Core 1 - 89 C
Core 2 - 92 C
Core 3 - 93 C

Now, I googled these results and people say anything above 80 is not too good. Do you agree and if so ( I have evo 212 cooler on cpu which is i5 3570k ) ... do you know or can help me with overclocking my cpu ? Maybe give me a "safe" preset numbers.

Thank you

@i7baby

my CPU does indeed idle at less than 40 C and after I overclocked it ran a game at an average of 67 C with a max of 80 C. Is that normal to have a max that is greater than 80 during normal gameplay ?

@madmatt30

I am using the very latest prime95 and I will try to find an older version for sure. Thank you.

@anyone

I followed the instructions on this " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnH0luwrcfE " video. I am not even sure what is going on but I do have the same setup. However, that person went with 47 multiplier and I am going with 44. For a 3570k with Evo 212 cooler ... 44 is okay right ?

Oh and my biggest concern, everytime I try to put in a Manual voltage ( let's say anywhere between 1.150 to 1.25 ) my system WON'T BOOT Windows. Therefore, I use the Off-set voltage option as opposed to Manual. Any idea why the Windows isn't booting ?

Thank you.

No. You need to reduce it's temp. Drop Vcore and boost CPU fan speeds. Or get a better CPU cooler.

Which program can I use in order to boost CPU fan speeds and by Vcore drop do you mean to drop the multiplier from 44 to something like 40-42 ?
