I just got this monitor two days ago and I must say that it rocks. It is a great performer and it's price is good also. I highly recommend it. My only issue with it is that it did not come with a DVI cable and I have to purchase one seperately. Other than that, A++.

Have you also seen either the NEC or Viewsonic flat panels? How do they compare?

Yeah, JG. What bnn said. I've been wow'd by the specs for that monitor; 400:1 CR, 25ms response time, etc etc, but I haven't seen it in any showrooms. Let's hear your full review... 😉

Well, I haven't been able to actually take the time to do much playing with other flat screen displays. I have played with them in CompUSA and the like but not on my own setup. With that said, I am very very pleased with this display. The brightness and color on it is exceptional. Also, the refresh in games is terrific. I do not notice any shadowing at all in full motion video. The overall design of the display is very nice. It allows you to run the cables inside the stand that the monitor is connected to to help keep things neat. The controls are pretty easy to use and they give you a wide range of options to customize the display. The only thing that I was unhappy about was the lack of a DVI cable in the box as I mentioned before. Other than that, I think this monitor is worth every penny of the $1400+ that I paid for it, and boy that's a lot of pennies. 🙂

Sounds good, JG. I've been able to sit with a bunch of other models and for the most part they are decent, but response time is what killed the experience for most of them (the Samsungs and the the more affordable Sony, VS, NEC models). Even if you don't play games it can be nice to have a quick screen. I visually scan large files occasionally by sweeping the scrollbars and it helps if the screen can redraw the text at the same speed. You can be sure you're not missing anything that way. Also, for some reason, except for the VS and PG brands, there aren't as many choices if you want DVI input.

I've seen lots of praise for the SGI super-wide, too; but I'm not convinced that the screen is large enough for the resolution (1024 pixels over 9.2 inches on the vertical). That's like running 1280x1024 on a 15" panel. The Senergy screens look great on paper, have great warranties, can run analog or digital and are cheap for their sizes. And look slick, too. Unfortunately, tho, there haven't been many reviews of them.

Phew. I better stop. Monitor shopping ain't easy if yr not looking CRT.

Have you managed to find a DVI cable yet? I've been looking around and the prices I've found for DVI-D cables are mind-boggling.... Also, do you know if you can use a DVI-D cable on a video card with DVI-I output?

(I went and bought the same monitor. It's display is a bit jiggly through the analog input. Otherwise it's very nice...)

Thank you very much for the review.
I'm off to look at that screen now.

Let us know what you think.
