I have a w2k with sp4 and all other updates installed. When I start my
computer I get the message:

"The Print Spooler service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1
time(s). ..."

If I restart the Print Spooler service, it happens again. I have a HP
LaserJet 1000 and a HP DeskJet 980cxi printer.

The most common cause is a bad printer driver. Try deleting the printers,
try following the steps in the article, and downloading the latest drivers
from HP for Win2k, and install them anew.

Hy Lanwench

I already tried to install the latest drivers, but it didn't work.

OK - and you followed *all* the directions to the letter w/r/t the registry
editing first?
And downloaded the drivers directly from the mfr's website?

Yes I did it. The HP DeskJet 980cxi works without any problems. Only if I
install the HP LaserJet 1000 the print spooler stops if I want to print. I
installed the latest driver. I also tried to install the printer from a other
w2k computer over the network. But I get the same failure.
What can I do?

I'd call HP, honestly.
