Print spooler will not start

The Print Spooler service is starting.
The Print Spooler service could not be started.
A system error has occurred.
System error 1067 has occurred.
The process terminated unexpectedly.

I have been reading everything I can find on your site about getting the print spooler to start. All my printers disappeared and I can not install. Snooping around in the registry, I find them all listed in various places.
What can I do?

It looks to me that all printers were installed on this Network that is no longer available, am I correct ?

No... there was no network. But today all is well and I can not install printers.

I had picked up the defender.exe bug. I had done a number of things to eradicate it and somewhere in all that my printers dissapeared and the spooler would not start. Finally after much failure, I ran a program called combofix and my computer is back to normal. well... there is one thing that is not as it was... DVDs inserted in the drive do not start the DVD player program as they used to and if I insert a memory stick, it will not automatically start explorer as it used to... and when I set the Auto Play feature for that drive, it still will not work. I am not sure how to fix it. I think I remember years ago dealing with this sort of problem but can not remember now.
