Question Print to fax -- HP Officejet on Linux Mint

I have an HP officejet 6830 (all-in-one), running on Linux Mint 19.1 x64 Cinnamon.
I want print to fax function, or workaround.
On Windows I use the HP universal fax driver.

I am afraid you're out of luck. That printer (as many other "consumer" models) are not supported under Linux by HP, and of you can print from Linux, it's because of some "generic" driver.

The built-in Linux driver probably only supports printing functions (and may be scanning as well) but not faxing. The machine itself is officially supported on Windows 10 64-bit only:

As a workaround, I tried installing Adobe PDF reader in Wine with PlayOnLinux, and then installing the HP fax driver into the same virtual drive.
The fax driver actually installed, and even showed up as a print option, but couldn't process a print job all the way. Not sure what went wrong.

It seems to me that using Windows would avoid all the hassle you're having, but I guess that depends how important faxing ability is to you.
I thought faxing was largely redundant these days anyway -- sending emails with attachments is much easier.

Yes, when it comes to drivers, Windows beats Linux any day of the week.
I live in the Middle East and there are certain segments of the population that are wary of the internet and didn't join the PC revolution yet. They are still using faxes.
