Print to HP Deskjet 5550/5650/5850 w/ single WinXP driver?

I have a HP Deskjet 5650 printer with out the CD. I got a new computer and downloaded the driver automatically and the computer recognizes the printer, but the printer won't print. I unplugged it, waited a minute and it still won't print. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you wait to connect the printer until the driver installer told you to?

I did it twice, one with it connected, one waiting until I was told to. I got it downloaded and it asked if I wanted to test it and it printed a nice color picture, so I assumed it was working, but now it won't print anything.

Make sure you do not have more than one HP printer icon, and if you do try another one to see if it works as the default printer.

I have 1 printer Icon. I went to a support company and they wanted $99 to connect to my printer! I can buy a printer with a disk cheaper than that! Getting frustrated!

Make sure the printer is not offline.

Everything is kosher.....tried changing ports, with no results. Had other people more knowledgeable than me tried with again no results...losing patiences.
