I have not been able to get my printer to work on my Vista system.

It did work at one time on my Vista machine and does work on my XP machine.

Printer: Epson R1800

I have down loaded the latest drivers from Epson's website.
I have uninstalled all previous drivers before downloading.

After installation, device manager shows two 1394 ports. One and has an exclamation mark next to it.

I am kind of frustrated with my Gateway system in this regard.

BTW the Epson support has been outstanding. ( I think they want you to be able consume their ink, my printer takes 8 cartridges.)

I am on a LAN with my XP machine, come to think of it, maybe that is when my problems started.

Thanks in advance,

Tapeman

Has anyone had this or a similar problem?

32 bit.

I have been reluctant to disable my firewall, but I guess I can try it on a trusted site. I am considering hiring a tech to come here and fix it, but being cheap I'll try a little longer on my own.

if your trying to install and network printer on your computer you need to create a local IP port that the computer can print to, diabling firewalls and anti virus is not required. Google add a network printer! Thats if your printer is attached VIA cat 5 cable or using wireless
