My parents own a HP ENVY 5000 printer and constantly it just doesn't want to print for them. At least once a week I am over at their house re-setting up their printer, which I have had no issues actually connecting it to their computer and it prints fine for me. It always seems a few days after I set it up it just doesn't print at all for them. This has been going on for about 1 month now of constantly reinstalling it and I am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction on why it keeps going out. It does not matter if I set the printer with wireless or wired printing, both have and will go out. I also have tried using the HP Printer App to set up the printer along with Windows 11 to no avail.

Network printer or shared printer?

If Network printer - Static IP with that IP address reserved on the router via the printer's MAC?

How do your parents go about starting up and shutting down both the computer(s) and peripherals?

Look in their computer's Reliability History and Event Viewer logs. The logs may reveal some pattern of errors or other problems.

Also look in the router's logs (if available and enabled).

When they print what do they print? Source(s) of printed documents?

I think the key is to figure out what they actually do when it comes to computers, network, and printer.

Very sure that they mean well but it can be absolutely amazing what non-techie types actually do sometimes.

Anyone who manages any sort of hardware and software development project had best include young kids and seniors when testing .... :)
